I haven't been getting out much and have a lot of stress health wise.......due mainly to the Department for Work and Pensions. Not much crafting done either. The amount of time spent on the computer is restricted due to back pain and as I have had to spend every day looking for gainful employment, it has eaten up my comp time. Good news though.....as of Monday 6th November I am officially retired!!!! Whooohoooo!!!!! No more signing on every 2 weeks for the paltry sum that is Jobseekers Allowance. As I now qualify for a senior buss pass I will be able to afford to get out more as well...which can only be a good thing.
A short post today but I will be back!!!! and a lot more frequently than of late.

Take care everyone and thank you for visiting.
Health wise things are not much better. I had my "work assessment capability" interview and no surprises there. No points..again. I didn't even get the six points that my earlier appeal awarded for mobility. Applied for the mandatory consideration and again
was refused. I have an appeal date in a couple of weeks. In the meantime I'm signing on and getting job seekers allowance and being threatened on a regular basis with getting sanctioned, because they don't think I'm doing enough to find a job. I have to do a job search every day on the computer and that is part of the problem. Sitting at the computer causes me a lot of back pain....half an hour is about my limit, so I don't get to do other things after the job search
.
A catch up. I saw a physio....who then referred me to another more specialised one because of my "complex health problem." This one asked at length about my pain and did an examination. The result was that I was probably having a bad flare up of the chronic pain and combined arthritis. She told me that they could nothing more for me that wasn't already being done...i.e. pain management through medication and exercises...and to avoid stress. So here I am with chronic pain due to M.E. and osteoarthritis in my spine and other areas. Signing on every other week for job seekers allowance and hoping I don't get sanctioned. Avoid stress? I wish!

I have done some crafting but not as much as I would like.
This was for a Crafters Reunited inspiration challenge. The colour green
Similar to to son's card. This was for niece's partner, and also doubled up for CR Challenge. A tag .
I won the draw with this one and won a £5 voucher to spend with Cutting Edge Crafts. I purchased another set of mini distress ink pads. My collection of colours is slowly growing.
Finally a card made for this month's challenge. I got to set the theme as I won last month so I chose "Autumn colours" I made it using papers from Making cards magazine. Initially I wasn't keen on this set..wasn't my thing. But now I realise I ought to take another look at some of the others that I have dismissed as "not quite me."
The pain has spread up to my neck.with excruciating pain in my left shoulder joint. I've never had a dislocated shoulder but I can only imagine that the pain is as severe as mine at the moment. I stuck it out for a few days until I couldn't take any more and had to make an appointment with the doctor through the triage system. If I hadn't been able to see a doctor I was ready to get myself to A&E. Anyway......the doctor I saw (another locum) couldn't have been more helpful and sympathetic. He couldn't give me any more painkillers, I'm taking the strongest dose and amount that I'm prescribed, but he did give me some ibuprofen gel and some simple exercises to do until I see a Physiotherapist. The pain in my shoulder joint is, apparently, caused by the arthritis on my spine which affects the nerves. He told me that it could take a couple of weeks for someone to get in touch to arrange an appointment, then that could be a 6 week wait. The very next day I got a phone call to arrange the appointment. June 4th at 9 o'clock at the NHS walk-in centre. I thought it would be with the surgery physio, or at one of the two large hospitals. I'd already seen one at the hospital for aids for the arthritis in my hand. The woman apologised for it being so long, but it was difficult to find anyone sooner as the doctor had requested a specialist. So..where am I at now? For few days everything seemed to calm down and was more manageable. Hot showers, painkillers and ibuprofen. Nor for long. Pain all the way down my left arm right down into my hand and a burning rash. First thought....reaction to the gel. No. Shingles!!! and it's blooming painful! So here I am in constant pain and feeling very sorry for myself.
Realised something ironic. The physio I'm seeing is the same one that refused me ESA and decreed I was fit for work last year. Could be interesting. Oh.... and I have my "non medical medical"...ie.." work assessment interview with a medical professional"....... next week. We shall have to see..

Crafting has been difficult but I've made 3 cards. Had to keep them fairly simple.

A card for April inspiration challenge for Crafters re-united. The theme was spring. Daffies say it for me.
Used a digi image and coloured with my one set of Spectrum Noir pens...... (Was a subscription gift from Making Cards. Do I need some more?..silly question.) ..and my small set of ergo soft pencils. Do I need the spectrum noir pencils with lots and lots of colours?....
The painkillers the doc prescribed are helping a little, but I have to pace myself very carefully .As soon as I feel the pain in my lower back I have to slow down or even stop before the pain travels to my shoulders and neck..it's frustrating to say the least. Having had to learn to pace myself over the years for the fatigue (not always successfully), I now have to add excruciating back pain into the mix. It hasn't helped that the doctor I saw for a renewal of a medical certificate made me very angry and upset. Since I re-applied for ESA I have to provide medical certificates (sick notes). The doctors have been providing me with one every 3 months.....no problem until last week. At our local surgery, if you are needing a sick note there is one doctor assigned to to dealing with them every morning between 11 and 12. I had never seen this particular doctor before...I think she was a locum. Anyway, she asked me what I had come for.......duh..,sick note! Then she asked what was wrong with me; while looking at the computer screen with my medical history laid out in front of her. She hummed and hawed a bit then asked what "this post viral thing was all about" So I told her. Asked me how long ago it started. Told her. Then she informed me that the other doctors had put 3 medical conditions on my sick notes..PVFS, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis. OK, knew that anyway. Then......she wasn't happy signing my certificate for flu that started 10 years ago. She finally decided on osteoporosis.....and only for 8 weeks. Can you believe that!!!! Suffice to say I hope I never have to meet her again. My son says I should complain, and I tend to agree but will it do any good? I doubt it. Rant over.

I have managed to do a little bit of card making by keeping it fairly simple. Sitting for too long doesn't help. So here are the ones I've managed.
For my Great- nephew Lucca...using Making Cards papers

This one was for the CR_U February challenge which I set the theme for,,,,, being the previous month winner.
"A card for someone you love and must have a heart somewhere". I played with my quilling papers.
As money is very tight at the moment I have determined not to spend any money on crafts unless it's
absolutely essential eg. adhesive and cardstock. My Making Cards subscription is paid for by my kids.Their Christmas pressie to me.

Another one for the CR-U challenge. "Something new". My brother is moving house very soon so this was ideal for me to get ahead. Again using Making Cards topper, paper and an embossing folder.

Another Making Cards make following the sample in the magazine. For my sister- in- law. A touch of glitter that the camera hasn't picked up.
Those of you who follow me will know that I was waiting for an appeal date for my claim for ESA. Well I got my date and I duly attended. The two medical professionals were very nice..but all they wanted to know about was my mobility. Nothing about the Post viral fatigue, the osteoporosis or the osteoarthritis. The bad news is that I didn't win.my appeal (no surprise there)..but the good news..they awarded me 6 points for mobility where as before I got none. 15 points are needed to be awarded the full ESA. I applied again straight away as it was more than 6 months from my original application. So again I am waiting for an assessment date while getting the minimum ESA amount which is equal to Jobseekers allowance. Meanwhile another health problem has arisen which took 5 weeks!! of trying to get a doctors appointment to get any treatment for.
The problem? My back. It starts with lower back pain and works it's way up to my shoulder blades and at it's very worse into my neck with shooting head pains. It's agonising and debilitating. The doctor has said that it's either osteoarthritis or it could be the result of osteoporosis affecting my spine. He has taken me off the co-dydromel and put me on co-codomel at a three times higher strength. It is helping a little, but only if I rest totally.....in other words do nowt. Washing pots, loading the washer, peeling potatoes etc. sets it off. Sons do help out a lot but I don't like the idea of having to rely on them for all the household jobs. They have their own lives to lead.
Crafting wise I haven't done a lot. I'm doing it in small bits...frustrating!
Anyway here are some pics of some that I have managed over the last 6 months I apologise for the quality of the photos. Quite a few are using Hunkydory papers and also papers from Making Cards magazine. Brilliant when your mojo deserts you, as it has done quite frequently of late.
It's been a shaky road since I last posted. To cut a long story short I am no longer on JSA (Job Seekers Allowance). After seeing a disability adviser and being told that it would be very difficult for me to find employment and be better off financially....the job centre made concessions to my conditions. Not much but a start. I also attended a mandatory "group session opportunity" to apply for work experience. Well I applied for 2 and waited.Ii was contacted by the job centre and told that my applications had been rejected on the grounds that the businesses concerned were not willing to "employ someone with health issues and could only work limited hours". Employ? They were getting free labour!! I also had to start a mandatory computer course for 2 full days. I told them that would be extremely difficult for me to do, so they made it 3 hours once a week for 6 weeks. The aim of the course?...how to write a CV...huh? Anyway, a couple of weeks into that and really struggling with the other appointments at the job centre and having to log in every day onto the computer for job searches, being threatened with sanctions for not applying for job, I received a call from the job centre. Would I like to apply for ESA (Employment Support Allowance) at the appeal rate. YES I WOULD. So now I am on ESA at the same rate as JSA and not having to sign on and stress my self out. Money is still tight.....I lost £30 a week when they stopped my Incapacity benefit...but at least my blood pressure is staying down and my GP is happier with that. Managed to sort out the mess with Housing and council tax benefit that always happens when your circumstances change. And even better...my electricity supplier is reducing my monthly payments by £18!!
During all this my mojo disappeared so not done any crafting which has been frustrating. I have been doing the garden...but as it's been so hot I've been going out there for an hour in the evening when it's been a little cooler. I'm going to try and make some crafting time this week....just get stuff out and play a bit...see what turns out. I have my Making Cards magazines so they should give me some inspiration, and I could just follow the samples they show using the papers that come with it.
Hopefully things can only get better .
No problem. The morning of my appointment I received a phone call telling me that as the person who I was supposed to be seeing was off sick, so my appointment would be delayed by ten minutes. I got there at the allotted time only to be kept waiting for.. 45 Minutes!! I wasn't happy. The interview took 1 hour and I didn't get back home until getting on for half past 5....with an armful of paperwork.
The conditions for receiving JSA are very specific, and although I told the adviser that I couldn't reasonably meet them I had to sign the agreement or I would be refused. I could still be sanctioned if, at my next appointment, they think that I have not "reasonably done enough" to find work. One of the most important conditions is that you have to find work with at least 40 hours a week. There is no way that I can be expected to work these sort of hours. I have M.E. A medical condition which has, as it's main symptom, severe fatigue, amongst others. The adviser has requested an appointment with a disability adviser ASAP..but when that will happen is any ones guess. In the meantime I face losing any benefit. All I can do in the meantime is hope for the best. And it doesn't end there .Because my circumstances have changed, my claim for housing and council tax benefit has been suspended and could take 6 to 8 weeks until it's sorted. That means it will be a repeat of last years fiasco with the housing association threatening eviction for non payment of full rent, and the council taking me to court for non payment of full council tax. Can't win really. On top of all that I went up to the doctors surgery with a repeat prescription request, only to realise that there are 2 bank holidays and I wont be able to get my prescription until Tuesday...DOH!!!! Will be without some of my medication over the weekend.....and..yes there is more..I have been asked to make a GP appointment for a prescription review, so I duly waited in the queue to told that there are no appointments for the next 2 weeks. OK..not urgent ....what about after that? "We don't make patient appointments that far ahead" Gobsmacked....good job I'm not really ill then isn't it! Rant over.

A couple of cards I've made. Crafting helps keep me sane......I think.

The first is a Hunkydory card for my sister-in-law. Matted with some black card and I think it worked. Linda Chapman's (Create and Craft) influence here.

This one I made for the Crafters re-united monthly inspirations. Any occasion, any size, but no main image. Just embossing and/or die cuts and any embellishments. My photography makes it look a bit paler than it is in reality
How wrong was I? Last month I had to attend a Work Capability assessment....not a medical. Well the powers that be have decided in their ultimate wisdom that I do not have" limited capability for work," and that my Employment and Support Allowance...formerly incapacity benefit will end on the 8th of March. So now I have to claim jobseekers allowance..... if I meet the criteria... while a "mandatory reconsideration" is made and then an appeal. To be able to claim ESA you have to achieve 15 points, the same as when attending a medical for the former incapacity benefit......but I have scored..NIL points! The health care specialist decided that I can "sit or stand ..or a combination of both....at a workstation and using a stick, crutches or propelled wheelchair for one hour." Watch this space.

Now onto a few cards I've made.

Last year was a bit of a disaster for me. Financial problems with the council taking 8 to 10 weeks to sort out a claim for housing and council tax benefits. This started when youngest son found work. Any changes to your circumstances means that any claim you currently have is suspended. Meaning that during this time I was liable for full rent and council tax. Well this caused a lot of problems with the housing association..my landlords ..by constantly phoning and visiting, demanding full payment and threatening eviction. I could have understood their insistence if I hadn't been paying anything but as it was I was paying over the odds which left us very short. No wonder my doctor got a bit worried when my blood pressure went sky high. Finally got things sorted when I spoke to another member of their "management team". So much for them saying" they are always there to help"...NOT!!! Suffice to say Christmas was a quiet one all round for us.
During all this I had no computer and it made me feel very isolated. I'm getting out much less now due to the pain and fatigue caused by the ME and arthritis. Not been able to get out in the garden either ..and it really does need some work before spring.
I have managed some crafting but not a lot. Got to get a wriggle on though as I have a few family birthdays coming up. Any way here a few pictures of some of my work.....not many 'cos I forgot to take pics.
First off....a card for granddaughters birthday. It wasn't as bright as it looks in the picture....my rubbish photography.

It crashed BIG TIME!! I've been using sons laptop to keep up with my emails and important stuff , but he didn't want any of the programmes I use downloaded on his computer. Perfectly understandable: so he bought me a new one as a late birthday and early Christmas pressy. Yay!! I lost a lot of stuff but luckily I had most of it on my portable hard drive. It's been a bad year all told and things are still not sorted. Lots of issues going on but more about those later. Just glad to be back online and not so isolated.
Well that's it for now..going to get back to finding stuff and trying to get organised.
Where is the time going? I'm still struggling with my health. I have had a cold that hasn't developed fully for months now and it's really draining my energy. I will be glad when the warmer weather is finally here (whenever that might be!). On top of that I now have a raging toothache. I have to confess that I haven't been to a dentist in nearly eight years, ever since my dentist of twenty five years went private and I couldn't afford the fees. Been browsing on the web trying to find a NHS dentist within a reasonable distance and who has places. Think I will end up at the dental hospital. Here in South Yorkshire we haven't been as badly affected by the weather as some parts of the country. Thankful for small mercies. Still doing a bit of crafting but not as much as I'd like to. I'm trying to get ahead with family cards but not making much headway. I have done what I needed to though.
The first one I saw in a magazine and decided it would be perfect for youngest grandson.....he loves his Lego. Had a bit of a job cutting out the circles for the bricks though....I don't have a circle punch or die the right size.
The next one.....for another grandson. I loosely followed a sketch ..again from a magazine....and used some of my scraps of paper. Got lots of scraps. It's my intention to try and use them as much as possible.

Am I ready for it?....no I'm not! Those lovely people at the benefit department have made an almighty cock-up. Was supposed to collect my benefit from the post office today. Shopping in town tomorrow and having my grocery order delivered Thursday. It ain't happening!! Why? Someone has inputted a wrong house number on my claim so nothing has been paid out. After half an hour of answering security questions to confirm my identity, (D.O.B. N.I. number, post code, nationality, how long at present address, phone number etc.), I've been told that someone from the office responsible for my claim will phone me tomorrow to try and sort it out. You really couldn't make this up. Nearly eight years of claiming, and a week before Christmas someone goes and b**** it up. I am not a happy bunny. I certainly will be glad when this year is over..it hasn't been a good one.
On to some pics now.

First...two things I made for my friend Anne. a little birdhouse inspired by Leonie. The cross stitch was for her birthday last May but have only just got round to being able to give it to her.
I apologise for the rubbish photography.
The reason? I'm struggling with my health. My energy levels are very low and the arthritis is getting worse and slowing me down even more. The computer has taken a bit of a back seat as my concentration levels are practicaly nil. I haven't been in the garden for months and it really does need some attention before the really bad weather sets in. I have been crafting though....mostly making cards for my son. These have been orders he's had, but been unable to fill because of major decorating and all his craft stuff being packed away. Well I got them done..the customers were really pleased with the cards, and now it looks as though we both have potential Christmas orders in the pipe line. Still got to make a start on my own!!!

Here's a few that I've made...not posting them all.....it would take me too long and probably bore the pants off you!....LOL

This one was a bit more difficult as I know practically nothing about the recipient. My son passed this on to me to make as with everything going on with him at the moment he didn't feel that he could do it. All I know is that it is for an elderly woman to give to her husband. He likes gardening but has had to seriously downsize owing to his health, and it had to have husband on it. I hope it fits the bill. I madee it using CAP (Craft Artist Professional) and it is a hybrid. The background was printed straight out and the verse panel and butterfly was printed separately then matted and layered. I added glossy accents to the clock and the butterfly, and a bit of raffia. just need to find out if a sentiment is needed for the insert.

The last two days have been glorious weather wise so I have taken advantage and spent a lot of time in the garden. It's been hard work and very tiring, but worth it. Sons have been very helpful with the housework and cooking. I think they are beginning to appreciate how much work it takes. It's been swings and roundabouts with some of my plants though. Things have really flourished..especially the Buddlia (which is 3 times the size it was last year) and my shrubs. The casualties have been my pansies and snapdragons which the heavy rain washed out, and my dwarf lupins. I bought them last year and they did really well. I've never been able to grow them in this garden before. Well they were flourishing this year until the snails got to them...and my hosta....decimated!!!
The theme is "sweet treats". Used a stamp by Adam Prescott...I love his stamps. Didn't go overboard with the embellishments as I didn't want to cover up too much of the lovely embossed handmade paper. Had it in my stash for ages. The flowers were made from the waste of a big papermania punch. Added a small gem in the centres and a couple of Woodware leaf sprays, a tiny sentiment and a bit of sparkly ribbon. The mirri frame is showing as gold but is actually silver.
I've been spending a lot of time on the Craft Artist forum...(CAP). There are so many very knowledgeable and talented people on there. I'm determined to use CAP rather than it being sat on my computer doing nothing. It is a fairly simple programme to use..even for me! My problem is the brain fog I get with the M.E. I can read something and a few seconds later have forgotten everything I've read. I've started by slowly reading something, then finding all the instructions on the CAP help files and printing them out, then actually trying the techniques for myself. It works for me even though it is a bit slow and time spent on the comp tires me very quickly. I'm getting there.
The rest of my time has been spent dodging the rain. Trying to catch up with my gardening in the short spells of nice weather, and also going over to eldest sons to try and keep his garden from running amok. He badly damaged his hand and now has had carpal tunnel surgery which has meant that he is very limited to what he can do. Me and one of my other sons are going over there tomorrow to help with shifting carpets and furniture. New central heating is being installed next week and the council have told him that the workmen have got to be able to get to the pipework and radiators or else it doesn't get done. You'd think they would offer him some help...he is registered as disabled after all.
I haven't done much crafting at home but have actually made two cards at the craft group...and something new to me...iris folding. I've never been able to actually make a card before as we are so busy helping the others. No sentiments on the cards as yet.
I didn't like the leaves on the tulip pattern so used quilled leaves instead. Pearl papers and silver peel offs.
(Not used peel offs for a long time.)
....that's what I've been up to. Not to good at it yet..only done three pages so far. At least with digi scrapping I can just alter or delete if I don't like it and no papers or embellishments wasted. Anyway here are my latest efforts. They are both of my friend Anne. Both done using Craft Artist and the free digi kits. I snagged the pics from her face book page and had a play.

Where have the last few months gone?....it'll soon be Christmas!! Again I have been very busy with the weather dictating most of my activities. We had what could be described as almost a tropical heatwave....then more downpours. I've been helping my eldest getting his garden tidied. A few weeks ago he broke his hand (an argument with a door that the door won unfortunately) and has found.....and is still....finding it very difficult to use. His hand is permanently damaged and combined with his other health problems it isn't easy for him. It's also meant that I've had to do more at the weekly craft club.....he hasn't been able to help some of our members as much, being right handed and it was the right hand that he injured.
My yearly eye test was due and I've had that with no problems.....my prescription has altered very slightly but not enough that I needed new glasses. Also had my prescription review at the doctors. No problems..my blood pressure was slightly up but the doc said that may be due to the medication, and I've lost some weight,,,again. Really pleased about that considering I don't get the exercise I used to and I don't do diets. It helps the osteo arthritis if I can maintain it.
Anyway.....this week was the turn of my garden again. I got the front garden done at the weekend, was only going to cut the grass but ended up doing it all. Today I managed to cut the two lawns in the back and edged the bottom lawn and weeded the flower beds before the rain started. The plants are really flourishing but so are the weeds. The weather has forecast for more rain over the next couple of days so I can't see me getting the rest done this week. A good thing really, otherwise I would be tempted to get out there and get it finished...and then I would be paying the price with pain for the next few days and then nothing would get done.
Billy and Olly (my two cats) have been loving going outside, but I worry when they are out now. Ollie hasn't wandered from the garden yet.....preferring to lie in the sun.......but Billy is venturing further afield. Not far...only the neighbouring gardens....but my little Theo wasn't far from home when he was killed on the road. I always give a sigh of relief when Billy comes back safe and sound.
No cards made this time .....just been playing with things in my stash and trying things out. I want to make a card for this months forum challenge but my mojo is having a little holiday. Perhaps it will come back with the rain.
A a result I have spent the last two weekends gardening.....breaking all my self imposed rules.....and I'm now paying the consequences. The garden is looking very respectable but I ache, my hands are painful and swollen and I've been exhausted for the past week. I managed to make a card yesterday though, so I think I'm getting back to normal...whatever normal is.
Here are 3 cards....the first 2 I made before I did the gardening.
The first one a quilling card ...for my friend Anne's birthday...made using an onion holder. Kept it simple and added pearls and a spotty organza ribbon.

This one was for my niece, and used papers by Nancy Watt...pearls again and a bit of lace. It doesn't show in the pic but I added a smidgen of glitter to the pansy petals.

And the last one.....my entry for this month's inspirational challenge on the Crafters Re-United forum.
The theme has to be based on a film but the card must be black and white. Struggled a bit with this one but then a trawl through my computer turned up this Dustin Pike image. Perfect.."The Graduate."
Was bit fazed with the "colouring"...it's all about shade and shadow.....but not too bad a job I think.

Thank you for looking.
Got soaked today just going to local shop. I was hoping to make a start on the gardening but no hope of that with all this rain we're getting. The grass will soon be up to my knees at this rate. Anyhow...at last I'm in the land of the hearing again. A 2 hour journey to the hospital for my hearing aid....and it took all of 10 minutes to sort. A new one for my worst affected ear and new tubing for the other. I've had another busy week with a little crafting. I wasn't going to enter this month's inspirational challenge on the Crafters re-united forum as I didn't think I would have much time. But then I thought, why not. The challenge was a sketch and a theme..a baby card. As there are no new babies due I decided on small, quick and easy...one for the box. Everything used is from my stash and most of it out of my "bit box"

Now for my bit of playing that I did a few weeks ago. At the craft group we all have a folder that we can keep our unfinished makes in. Saves us having to remember to take things home then back again. Well the folders were cheap..and either a dirty brown or dull olive green. I got a green one and decorated mine using white ink, sequins, and a bit of acetate that I stamped and coloured with glass paints. Didn't have a plan when I started it...just went with the flow so to speak.

They are Billy and Olly! How has this come about? I took them to the vets to be spayed and it was discovered that they were male, not female. Those of you who have been with me for a while will know the saga. They joined our family 18 months ago from a litter of 5. The RSPCA were involved from the start. I was asked if I had a preference and I said no. The other 3 male kittens were re homed at 8 weeks but the remaining 2 had to stay with their mother another 2 weeks because they were so tiny. At first I was only having one of them but because they were both females it meant that the last remaining kitten was hard to re home and would have to go to the RSPCA. That's how I ended up with 2... according to the RSPCA...female kittens. Molly and Milly. It was a bit of a shock but they are still my fur babies and I love 'em to bits. Even the so called experts get it wrong sometimes. All this has come at the end of an very tiring week. Craft group on Tuesday afternoon..which I'm having to do a lot of the organizing at the moment because my son, who started the group, has broken his hand. Shopping in town on Wednesday, and the vets with the boys yesterday. I haven't been able to do any crafting this week but I need to do some this weekend for the group. They want to try quilling. I think I can come up with something fairly simple for them...hope so anyway.
..scrapbook page. I've wanted to try scrap booking for a while now but didn't really know where to start. A while ago I downloaded a free copy of craft artist compact. I played around with it but didn't actually make anything. This weekend I have been watching Michelle on Create and Craft....so much inspiration and great demos. And the great offer on Craft Artist Professional! I'm not a member of the C&C club so even the low price is beyond me at present. My funds are very tight at the moment and I have promised myself not to buy any more crafting goodies for a while. Then I heard that Daisytrail members could download the software for £2.99......and I am....so I did. And here is the result. 8x8...kept it reasonably simple using elements from the free kits available to download on the site. Lots of pics on my computer waiting to be scrapped. Think I'm hooked!

It's looking very colourfull at the moment with all the spring bulbs that have come through this year. I'm itching to get out there but I still don't have the energy. I am starting to be able to do a little more each day but the progress is slow...too slow for me..I want to get going! Not been totally idle though. I've done a little crafting in the form of cards.

This one was for my friend Anne. She was feeling a bit fed up..so a "just because" card.

Finally this month's forum inspirational. A sketch and using three different backing papers, a ribbon, and a bow...and no image. The focal point had to be text. Found it a bit daunting at first but thanks to a 6x6 paper pad it was made easier 'cos Ii knew all the papers would co-ordinate. This might end up as my SIL's birthday card in a couple of weeks.

..to "normal"..but still not able to do too much. Sons have been great...vacuuming, washing pots...and cooking. I have done some crafting....3 cards...and even they have took me a while to do. My concentration level is way down at the moment. Little steps is the key until I can get some energy back. Anyway here they are.

This one was for my youngest's girlfriend. I don't really know what her taste in cards is, but I'd been playing at making some flowers and I have to practise my colouring. I loosely based the layout on Jackie's sketch that was used for last month's inspirational challenge. The image is from Lili of the Valley, pink paper from Polka Doodles, Sizzix embossing folder, X-cut and Spellbinder dies. Flower punch from Woodware. Leaf punch and die cut letters borrowed from son so don't know.

A card for this month's Inspirational challenge on the forum. It's also for eldest at home son's birthday next month. I'm running out of ideas..men are not easy to make for.

A male card that has to have a least one circle and some ribbon/twine/string etc. I don't know where the backing paper came from and I'm not sure about the stamps.....had them ages. Used paper string threaded through eyelets and a dymo tape for the sentiment.

My prize from the Do Crafts November prize draw arrived after a slight delay and I've finally got to have a play with it. A3 glass cutting mat, stamp edge cutting dies and two sets of urban design stamps. Love the cutting mat and the dies..and a bit out of my comfort zone with the stamps. Well I played about with them for a while and ended up with quite a few bits. Thought that I really ought to be able make a card with some of them so... I did. It's my eldest's birthday today so he got the resulting card. A bit of a mix of things as most of my experimenting was using card and paper from my "bit bag."
An unusual colour combination but I think it works. You can't see it in the pic but I have stamped the main image in a very soft grey over the background, to match the base grey card
